Jeffree Star Magic Star Powder (which costs $22 for 10 grams of product) is a powder that has been milled to an extremely fine consistency and is intended to give the skin a velvet-like, matte finish. The assortment is available in a total of eight different colors. I chose the translucent version of the shade. Additionally, the use of this powder is said to magically reduce the appearance of skin imperfections such as pores, fine lines, and any others. As a consequence, the skin takes on the appearance of having been flawlessly airbrushed. Designed to keep your makeup in place all day without causing it to cake or crease.
Jeffree Star Magic Star Powder is Extremely Supple
Although the purchase of setting powder is not likely to be the most exciting, it is certainly one of the most important. After all, the setting powder is the workhorse that makes the face look put together and ready for the day. I have a few go-to powders that I use frequently, but I also enjoy trying out new products and am always looking to expand my collection. After reading all the good things people had to say about Jeffree Star’s Magic Star Powder, I felt compelled to see if it really was magical.
The powder is extremely supple and has been milled to an extremely fine consistency. To properly set an entire face, you really only need the tiniest possible amount of product. Another huge advantage is that it does not dry out the skin. This powder has a sweet scent that reminds me of cotton candy. Although the scent isn’t overpowering at all, I find that I prefer my powders to be completely fragrance-free. Although this is not a deal breaker for me personally, I feel it is important to bring it up, especially for those who may have a heightened sensitivity to odors.
I used the powder in two different ways: first, to set my entire face, and second, for my under-eye area, I used the “baking method.” My face looked gorgeously set, and the finish was definitely similar to velvet as a result. The appearance of my pores was flawlessly blurred. Before I needed to touch up my matte finish, it lasted for quite a few hours. On the other hand, I did not particularly enjoy baking for my under-eye.
I was hoping that there would be a brightening effect, but I did not get that result. It’s possible that the problem is the color; perhaps if I went with a rose or banana shade, the under-eye setting powder would have more of the brightening and color-correcting properties that I look for in an under-eye powder. In order to satisfy my under-eye setting requirements, I went back to using my Huda Beauty Easy Bake Powder.
Luxurious Packaging
This powder’s packaging is on par with the packaging of the other products in the Jeffree Star line. Although I cannot say that it has a particularly luxurious feel to it (it is entirely made of plastic), I adore the star and the shade of pink that is prevalent throughout. One thing that bothered me about this powder was how the container was sealed, and that was a problem. When I open the container, there is already a significant amount of product dispensed, and I have not done anything to cause this dispensing to occur; as a result, the situation is quite disorderly.
Again, for me personally, this is not a deal breaker by any means, but it is not the aspect of this product that I enjoyed using. One more thing that you need to think about is the size or quantity of the product that you will actually be receiving. Despite the fact that it is quite a minor issue, the fact that the product is of high quality means that I do not consider it to be a deal breaker for myself.
In general, this is a very reliable and high-performing powder, and I take pleasure in putting it to use. The velvety finish feels absolutely stunning against the skin.
