As the year 2023 comes to fruition, I find myself thinking back on some of my most memorable retail discoveries. And right at the very top of that list is the product range by Good Molecules Skincare that has been a regular component of my day-to-day skincare routine for the past six months or more.
If you have been reading my blog, you are probably aware of my love for this relatively new brand. If you haven’t been reading my blog, you should start. The concept behind Good Molecules is straightforward: it consists of top-tier components that have been optimized for maximum efficiency and are delivered at affordable prices.
Good Molecules Skincare and Beautylish
I have sensitive, oily, and combination skin, so the Good Molecules Skincare team and Beautylish were kind enough to give me two of their newest products and two others that I have been using and loving for a while. These are the products that work best with my skin type. The silicone-free priming moisturizer and the pure cold-pressed rosehip seed oil are the newest products that they have introduced to their collection. Good Molecules Pure Cold-Pressed Rosehip Seed Oil
Let’s investigate the brand new goodies in greater depth. To begin, there is the Good Molecules pure cold-pressed rosehip seed oil, which costs $10 for 13 milliliters or 0.44 ounces. Rosehip seed oil is a natural source of vitamin C, and vitamin C is well known for its ability to fight the signs of aging, as well as sun damage and hyperpigmentation. Rosehip seed oil also contains antioxidants.
In addition, the formula includes Provitamin A a natural retinol derivative that helps promote cell turnover but is mild enough to be used even on the skin of the most sensitive individuals. And finally, it is rich in the essential fatty acids that play a role in maintaining the elasticity of the skin. This potent oil nourishes and hydrates the skin while working toward the goal of producing a complexion that is visibly brighter and fuller. This oil is sourced in a way that is both environmentally responsible and adheres to fair-trade principles. In addition, it possesses a wide range of amazing nourishing properties.
My favorite thing about this oil is how lightweight it is, despite the fact that it provides significant hydration and a natural glow to the skin. It quickly absorbs, leaving behind skin that is extraordinarily soft. The effect of this oil, which I put on both at night and in the morning, is something I just can’t get enough of. It works wonderfully with the rest of the products in my skincare routine and holds up exceptionally well under makeup.
Another great thing about this little powerhouse is how well it balances out my combination skin. Since I’ve started incorporating it into my routine, I’ve seen a significant decrease in the amount of oils I use (which makes this oily gal very happy). This rosehip oil has rapidly become an important component of my day-to-day routine!
Good Molecules Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer
The Good Molecules silicone-free priming moisturizer is a brand new product that has been added to the Good Molecules line-up. It costs $14 for 50 ML (and is one that definitely makes a lot of sense in terms of an additional step for the AM routine). This lightweight product is a moisturizer and a primer in one, and its goal is to smooth, hydrate, and prepare the skin for the application of makeup. An alternative to silicone that comes from plants and happens naturally can help smooth the texture of the skin and make it feel more breathable.
You might be wondering why it’s so important that the product doesn’t have silicone in it. And there is a compelling justification for this. Silicone is frequently a contributing factor in acne outbreaks (for some individuals, including yours truly). I am relieved and optimistic due to the fact that this formulation does not contain an ingredient that I know for a fact causes me to break out in acne.
Macadamia seed oil, which is rich in the antioxidant vitamin E, and the essential fatty acids found in olive oil work in tandem to calm and heal the skin while also enhancing its ability to function as a barrier. The formulation does not contain any silicones, fragrances, alcohol, mineral oil, or PEG at all. It does not test on animals and is vegan.
This moisturizer feels like a thick cream, but as soon as you put it on your skin, it quickly becomes more watery and absorbs deeply into your skin, giving you the hydration that was promised. The finish will be demi-matte once it has completely dried out (which is great for my oily spots).
Leaving the Skin Hydrated
One thing that I noticed was that it did not go well with any of my preferred foundations, and that was that it did not pair well (I did not like it with my Charlotte Tilbury Flawless foundation as the combination of a matte finish plus a true matte foundation ended up leaving me with a finish that seemed too unnaturally matte for my liking).
On the other hand, I found that it worked really well with my other foundations, which have more of a dewy or satin finish than a true matte one. The fact that this product is designed to perform multiple functions makes me wish that it had a sun protection factor (SPF), which would allow me to skip one step in my daily routine. In general, I believe that the combination of moisturizer and primer is excellent and that it lives up to the claims that are made about it. It does this by preparing the skin, leaving it hydrated, and maintaining the foundation’s staying power.
Honorable mention goes to the fourth and final product that I was sent, which was the Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($6 for 30 ml / 1 oz). This serum is an indispensable part of my routine and is considered one of my holy grails. When it comes to providing the skin with intense hydration, this formula, which is very light and based on water, is without a doubt the very best there is.
This serum helps the skin draw moisture to itself, which results in prolonged hydration. I merely cannot function properly without it. This hero product works wonders for my combination/oily skin when combined with the Niacinamide Serum. I highly recommend it.
Even though the items were given to me for free, my love for them is real, and my opinions are all my own. The Good Molecules range is one of my very favorite discoveries of 2019, as it really agrees with my skin (and my wallet), and it is one of their newer products. packed to the brim with potent ingredients and free of any unnecessary filler or junk that actually work as advertised and live up to their claims.
