- Walks outside: for me, being exposed to the sun and fresh air makes all the difference in the world, and I’ve found that increasing the amount of time I spend outside has been of great assistance.
- Restricting access to the news and social media can be a boon or a bane, depending on how you look at it. Although it is important to keep abreast of the most recent developments in the issue and information as it becomes available, doing so may actually make one’s anxiety level worse. Taking a step back can frequently bring the much-needed relief that is being sought.
- Having no expectations, or at least making an effort to have none, and living each day as it comes. The inability to plan anything can be distressing for me as well as for myself (who is very much a Type A planner), but there is perhaps a lesson to be gained for both of us in being present and living in the now even when we have no ability to plan for what will happen in the future.
